8 Mile

This post has nothing to do with Eminem's autobiographical movie 8 Mile, but everything to do with the distance I signed up to run for the Turkey Trot this year.

This will be my fourth year to run the T-Trot. I love it. Thanksgiving is one of those days you look forward too, and then you get up in the morning with nothing to do but watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and wait for the food to get cooked. Or, if you are like me, sometimes you join in with the cooking. OR- you drve up to your relatives and sit around in their house which is always EXTEREMELY hot from all of the ovens and you are bored out of your gourd because all you want to do is eat and then go home and veg.

A good friend of mine who many of you know, David Cribbs, started dating Jenni Leo (now Cribbs) and her family runs the Turkey Trot every year so I sort of invited myself to go along. I don't run with Dave and Jenni anymore, I got my own group of Turkey Trotters and we have been running together the last 2 years.

So, this year I tried- in vain- to find someone that wanted to do the 8 miles with me. So maybe we wouldn't be able to run the whole 8, but come on- it would be FUN!!!

Alas, no one wants to run 8 miles on Thanksgiving Day just for fun. But THINK of all the turkey and pecan pie you could eat without worrying about gaining a single pound!!!

Cody Miller is going to run the T-Trot with me. I may only run the three miles because part of the fun is running with a good friend, but at the last minute, I might just jet off on that road less traveled and run the 8 that I have always wanted to run.

Two Roads diverged on a yellow path... I might take the 8 mile one less traveled by.
