Phrases that stick.
I have these phrases that run through my mind all the time. They are normally triggered by an external stimulus and like Pavlov's dog (overused analogy but it works) I am conditioned to respond with the same response.
Like when someone uses the word "too"- I almost always think "Too, as in 'also' or 'in conjunction with'."
There are others as well, " Use i before e except after c or when sounded like a as in neighbor or weigh; and except seize and seizure and also leisure, weird, height, and either, forfeit, and neither."
There are also some songs that we used for multiplication tables that I still use - and I memorized them over 20 years ago! "9x6 is 54 - clap!"
Why is it that some things never leave your mind? They are as clear as day, you don't forget them, they don't even become fuzzy, but other things fade with time? Like I only remember part of the song for the Presidents of the United States, but I still remember the song for all the books of the Bible.
What makes the particular phrases stick? What phrases are stuck in your head?

I know exactly what you mean, but I cant explain it either. I remember all the planets and their order bc of my second grade teacher. My mom taught me when I was little that I could tell my left from my right bc I have a freckle between my index finger and thumb on my left hand. Freckle equals left hand, no freckle is right hand. Im 23 years old and still when someone asks me left or right I sometimes reflexively look down at my hands. Cant help it, its stuck in my head
