Weekend Update
The weekend was quite relaxing- Friday night I went and worked out at the Gym and then I stayed home and grilled some steaks that Mr. T gave me. Delicious!
Saturday I got up and went to Starbucks. Here in Plano the Starbucks in the Barnes and Noble is actually Starbucks- you have to be careful because sometimes the coffee shop is merely Barnes and Noble cafe serving Starbucks coffee. At the B&N cafe they have similar drinks- some are called Caramel Marchachinnio or Pecan Nut Latte- and they taste very similar to a Caramel Macchiato and a Toffee Nut Latte, but they are not the same.
This particular Starbucks is in our Barnes and Noble and they wery busy, busy, busy. It was only 9am on a Saturday- the rest of Plano was still asleep, but everyone that was awake apparently made a mad dash for Starbucks.
After about a 5 minute wait I finally got my Venti Caramel Macchiato, normally I go with a Venti Mocha, or perhaps a Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte (which I think is just a Mocha with some Nutmeg sprinkled on top), but every now and then you just have to change it up.
As you can see- I have been working on site redesign, unfortunately I am trying to learn CSS and Dreamweaver and I have been using my site as a test site- ugh- how ugly is that! So sorry for the inconsistencies.
Back to my weekend...
While at B&N I bought Walking on Water by Madeline L'Engle. Mrs. L'Engle also wrote "A Wrinkle in Time". I didn't know this but she is a Christian author who has published many works on various subjects. Walking on Water is a book about Christianity and Art and how the two are intertwined. She says, "All art is religious". Of course you have to put this in context - besides, what is the definition of "Art"?
Jimmy McWhinney recommended the book. He is one of those friends that when he says, "You should try this..." I ALWAYS try it. He is one of the few people that I go to for advice and wise counsel. So far I am about 1/3rd of the way through the book and I am really enjoying it.
So, Saturday I went to get my oil changed after I picked up the new book and the caramel macchiato. Getting your oil changed can be quite tricky, the normal cost of an oil change can vary from 14.95 to 39.95 dependent upon how full service the oil change is. When I life Kwik Kar my account balance had decreased by 94.85- and that was with discounts! The guy kept coming out and saying, "Your transmission fluid needs to be changed, Your wiper blades are old, your fuel filter is dirty." Well Duh, the truck is 15 years old- everything is old and dirty!!
So, he was right, it was time to change a few things, but not the fuel filter, I just had it changed about 8,000 miles ago and it didn't need it yet. That is the problem with going to those places, how do you know if they really performed any of the services they just charged you for? Maybe they just put new oil in and didn't change the filter? How would I know if they put in new transmission fluid? Or drained the rear-end? I just have to have faith, but one thing is for certain, the truck does seem to be running better.
Saturday night I went to a friends and played poker. Our poker games usually last almost till morning- this one lasted until 4:45am- fortunately for me I left at 2AM- I was tired and ready to hit the hay. I lost money this time- which has only happened twice in all the times that I have played- which now has to be about 15 times.
Sunday I went and played glorious racquetball with Travis, Cody, and Nik. We had a blast- it was Nik's first time to play and he beat Cody and myself. He did say though that he used to play tennis a lot- something I still can't play despite my friend Maksim's efforts to teach me.
Sunday night I stayed at Cody's. We had chicken and rice for dinner with wonderful brown and serve rolls, and then we watched the American Music Awards. Did you see Anna Nicole Smith? She had to be on Cocaine or something cause she was high as a kite! As my dad used to say. He also used to say, "Coked to the Gills" - which she might have been. She was actually wearing a Trim Spa necklace- hilarious- can you say White Trailer Trash? Oh, that is a little harsh, I am sure it is hard being Anna Nicole Smith- everyone has their demons- hers is lack of brains.
Now, in closing, I can't believe Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK!!! I am really looking forward to it- I plan to have some more of those awesome brown and serve rolls!
Love ya!
