We love you Steve!
I debated about whether or not I should post anything about this because it is so personal.
In the wee hours of Wednesday morning Cody's dad Steve Miller passed away. (Read the Denton Record Chronicle Article Here.)
Obviously the first thing you feel is denial. It just doesn't seem possible the someone that you love can be taken away. And then when the reality of what has happened sets in it is almost unbearable. It hurt so much to watch Nita, Cody, Travis and Mindi (Steve's Wife and Children) be ravaged by the loss of their father.
Many fathers aren't close to their children, especially as the children grow older- not so with the Miller's. If anything, Steve's children grew closer to him every year. With each accomplishment, with each obstacle, with each milestone- Steve was by his children's side cheering them on, praising them, encouraging them and loving them. I was often times in awe of what a good father he was, his family meant the world to him. He always put them first.
Myriads of people have flooded into the Miller home to express their condolences. Prayers have been prayed, buckets of tears have been shed, but there are still moments of joy. Each time a happy story is retold or a sweet memory is shared there are tears, but they are bittersweet tears.
It has been such a blessing to know that Steve has left behind so many happy memories, he was cherished by every one that knew him, and he will always be in our hearts.
I forgot to mention that the Service will be at Denton Bible Church at 2:00pm on Saturday.

I concur with everything that Eddie posted. Mr. Miller was an amazing man, evidence by his amazing children. I have always been in awe of the Miller family, their character, love for each other and others, and the amazing family dynamic they had. I was so fortunate to know the Millers since childhood and have fond memories of knowing their family was special. My prayers go out to Nita, Mini, Travis, and Cody.
I was so sad when I heard about this earlier this week...but it is amazing how God brings comfort through these times. Travis was very good friends with Rick, Dustin & Jeff during high school but they had grown apart over the years. Since this tragedy, the 4 of them have been reunited, really showing that even though a friendship can fade, it never truly goes away.
May God continue to lavish his comfort on this family... Our prayers are definitely with the Millers as well.
Ed-D - i'm so glad that you posted about this. The email you sent out just wasn't enough, and last night I called KT to talk about it.
My heart is so TORN for Cody. I can not even begin to imagine the torrential emotions he's feeling right now.
Its been hard this week, but I can't imagine the grief Cody and the rest of the family are going through. As one of Cody's best friends I wish I could just make the pain all go away. The one thing I always remember when someone I know dies is that this is not goodbye, its see you later. Though it may be awhile, Cody and his family will be re-united together in glory for the rest of eternity and that is an encouraging thought.
Eddo, thanks so much for the slide show. it was way tight! It was definitely a blessing that my dad went to be with the Lord at the time he did. He was hurting, and that pain came quickly and there were little signs of it getting better. And what he started was only the begining. I am glad God took him because he was already suffering and i wanted that to end.
Eddo, you are more than just a family friend... even though you like to give me a hard time about something just about everytime we meet. JERKFACE!
I just want to thank you for everything.
Steve's favorite child,
Travis
OMW Trav- you are so bad! And I only tease you to keep you humble- that is why God put me into your lives- I am supposed to love and encourage Cody, and Humble you. And to make the rest of the family laugh on occasion.
I am so blessed to be part of your family, and was honored that I could at least do the slide show for you guys.
Steve's favorite multiracial son.
Eddo
Eddie,
