A Note of Caution

Sunday night I went to a friends house to see their new baby. Upon arrival some other friends came with us and a long time girl-friend said, "Eddie, does your truck really need these rain gaurds?"

She tapped on them and looked at me like my rain gaurds were a little cheesy.

A. The rain gaurds were specially coordinated with the interior of my truck and it came with them.

B. My truck is brand new to me and any negative comments are not allowed or tolerated.

Fortunately in times like this I carry a magical powder that will transport anyone who has just said a negative comment to me into the 5th dimension. I sprinkled it liberally over my friend and she disappeared and took her negative mouth with her. (I am still a little bitter?)

I don't think ladies realize the importance of a guy's car. Some of you may already realize this, but to a man a car is like a woman. We love it. We want to show it off and we take care of it. Any negative mention of our car or our woman is extremely offensive.

It doesn't matter to me that my friend didn't like the rain gaurds on my truck, big deal. It was the fact that she didn't realize that it just wasn't cool to say something negative about it. It was just uncouth.

I truly didn't know what a car meant to a man until I rode in a particular vehicle (for the life of me I can't remember what kind it was!) and thought, if this car was mine, I would care for it for eternity! Driving it was pure bliss...
I think I blocked out the type of car it was due to the fact that I'd probably never be able to afford it. From that moment on, however, I've never thought men were weird about their car fondness. :)
Can I borrow some of your powder, Eddo?

Eddie-

A guy's car is like a woman... until you meet a woman and get married and then the first little one is on the way and you can no longer afford the vehicle anymore... so you have to sell it... Then it really doesn't matter anymore.

At least that's was what happened to me... lol

Yes. You cant say anything about a man's ride or his Lady!
(I have learn though that a man's Lady can say whatever she wants about her man's ride... I dont even begin to understand it... I just accept it and move on to "Sportscenter")

We call them "pick-ups" in Minnesota...

Less of course Eddie is driving a Semi Truck or a Grain Truck around... but then we have had this conversation before... haven't we?

LOL.. I prescribe to an unorthodox mid-west train of thought. I call the small trucks pick up trucks.. and the big ones trucks.. arr arr arr (HOme Improvement if you couldn't grasp your hands around that one lol)

I can admit I am a car snob. But not in a bad way...if that is possible. I have to say, being I am not sure what rain guards ARE, I am not sure of their purpose or their aesthetic - but what ever you say eddo - I am sure they make the whole package better.

You sound like my uncle. He just bought a new truck too and he doesn't like anybody touching it! He also made a comment about his truck being like a woman. He said something like, "There are three things that a man should never share... his woman, his truck and his sombrero." :P

Big Fella, you know I understand the value of the rain gaurds! You might want to keep the friend in the 5th dimension or at least get away from them and come to Waco:)
