7 Levels of Ectasy
Last week I started a low-carb low-cal diet. I don't want to hear anyone tell me about my diet, I KNOW my body well and I know what works for me. If eating lemons and saltwalter works for you, then I won't say anything - You don't make me do your diet and I won't make you do mine.
So I am losing weight like a madman - 8 pounds in 4 days. I am running and drinking water and doing all the necessary things to lose weight and it is freakin' working! Then Friday rolled around and we went to Akbar for lunch. Akbar is an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet. It is filled with all types of spicy sumptuous dishes that I thought I could resist (who was I kidding?) .
So I ate my fill of 7 different types of Indian delicacies and I sopped up all the sauce with some flatbread - "nan" - and I swore to myself that I was only going to eat carbs for that one meal. Ha Ha! I actually told myself that and believed it! I BELIEVED IT!
Later that night Cat and I went over to Girja and Manish's place to hang. We watched "Must Love Dogs" and didn't eat anything so we were all famished. We went to Jasmine on Beltline Richardson and it was PACKED. It is a Hookah bar that serves really good food and of course Hookah is all the rage right now, so much so that many people have forgotten all about Cigars, pipes, and quite possibly even marijuana - all things that were popular among the youth a few years ago. (And I always know what is popular with kids, I watch MTV.)
So we decide to order the food to-go and what do I get? I get a chicken wrap filled with spicy chicken and veggies in this delightfully zesty sauce as well as a plate of hummus - which comes with more flatbread. Yeah, the diet pretty much went out the door for the entire weekend.
How are you doing on your New Year's Resolutions?

But Eddo, you refrained from eating Snuffer's Cheese Fries, which is a feat that I did not think could be accomplished by a mortal.
No saltwater and lemons? You sure about that? Momma and Pops started it today. blech.
We're still in a fight.
Why are we still fighting? HRMPF!!!
Ha Ha Ha. I guess Cat and I did whip y'all on that second game of Wahoo. Had to redeem ourselves from all that smack talkin'.
Peace out.
Ten years ago I gave up social smoking for jogging albeit heathier but I have never in my apparently sheltered life heard of this phenom Hookah. Thanks for the link. Very interesting.
My sis lived in Maryland for a while and raved about Akbar..yummm. And cheese fries. Now I am hungry.
Yeah, well, you have to treat yourself SOMEtimes, right?
8 pounds in four days?! That's crAzy!
Way to be Eddo!
i made no resolutions. that way, i can't break any and be disappointed with myself.
see how i avoid discipline?
Eddo,
do you ever have problems with blogger commenting? I was thinking about changing from Haloscan so I can turn comments off when I need to. But I had a lot of problems with blogger (it was sooooo slow) before.
Good job on the weight loss Eddo! Don't beat yourself for falling, just start over the next day, so it doesn't snowball.
I agree, each person should do what works for them, as long as it is healthy.
I've pretty much kept to my resolutions, not perfectly, but for the most part. The one I haven't slipped on are devotions, the one I haven't mastered - being late! Ugh!!! Diet and exercise are well for the most part, but there is room for improvement.
Keep your eye on the prize!!
Oh, and for added motivation, tune in to the Biggest Loser Wednesday on NBC!!
How I wish eddo.. 8 Pounds... I was exercising for 2 weeks straight and lost 2 lbs.... What... Hate losing weight ... but I love feeling fit so I will get back into shape of the BENJENO!!!!
No beer for nine days. My primary carb love...sigh. But I'm kind of past missing it now.
The holidays will do ya if ya don't watch out. A few years ago I lost sixty pound and kept them off for two years. I killed the whole thing in one holliday period.
I'm also doing the low-carb, low-cal thing as well. About two years ago, I lost a ton of weight on the same diet. Unfortunately I've gained some of that weight over this last year. I have this crazy "love/hate" relationship with food. I love to eat it, but I hate what it does to me! *Sigh*
Eddo, if your body does well with low carbs and high protein then I have the perfect program for you. I know it sounds funny coming from a guy with lapband but this program worked well for me before I had it and works even better for me now! Natural Hormonal Enhancement I started it up again last Tuesday because I've been on a major plateau in my weight loss. I've been at 332 since November and I weighed in at 339 last Tuesday. Well yesterday I weighed in at 325! Sorry to trump your 8 pounds :) The best part is today is my carb load day and I get to eat all the high starch carbs I want(or can get down)
The first time I tried it out(June '03) I lost 60 pounds by Aug '03. But I am like joy, I lost a lot but after I stopped I gained it back plus more. Which will happen with any program.
I'll bring you the book tonight so you can take a look and see if it's right for you.
Yeah, and I told myself I could stop eating chocolate and drinking coffee. FAT CHANCE!
Good luck on your weight loss endeavors, though.
Ohhhhh nan. *groan* I love Indian food and I adore nan. I even learned to make it. I could never pass on carbs.
I didn't give up carbs, but I did manage to lose 50 pounds last year anyway by counting calories. One of my resolutions this year is to keep it off. I'm must say I'm doing very well so far, even with the evil pile of Pringles I ate last night.
Did you smoke the Hookah??
I diodn't make any resolutions, not ime for all that nonsense - hee hee.
I love my site BTW - Thank you so much! I love love love love love love it! You're the best! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
