May Devo

I sent out an email that I created for SOS that went out to 50,000 people.

I am quite proud of this even though it is just the beginning. I created all of those graphics, the header and footer even and this work is keeping me quite busy and I love it.

Song of Solomon New Name Contest – Win $400!

One of my clients is http://www.songofsolomon.com

We are currently running a contest to see if we can find a new name for our company that encompasses everything that we offer – which is much more than just Song of Solomon Bible Studies.

sosnamechallenge2I am also quite pleased with the graphic that I came up with for the challenge. I wanted the “NEW NAME” to pop a little more, but I didn’t want to spend too much time fixing a minor detail. Instead I wanted it to look like the cover of a graphic novel using bold and catchy colors.

Interested in winning $400 in prize money? Then check out the event here: http://tinyurl.com/pcgf6m Note: You will need a Facebook account as this link points to an Event in Facebook.

A New Deck. A New front Lawn. A New Washer and Dryer

I’m slowly but surely spending my savings on things that I don’t necessarily have to have, but things that I have wanted forever. My lawn is currently segregated. Yep, there is this great sidewalk of Plano dividing my lawn in half and it is keeping the bermuda from mingling with the st. augustine. It’s a religious crisis that has been going on since 1984.

Enough is Enough! The Bermuda is losing this battle and I’m coming in with St. Augustine all over my lawn.

Next in line is a new deck. Why? Because I want to be outside more. I want to be able to enjoy my back yard and I want to invest a little money in my house and continue to make it my own. Sure I could hang on to this money, but why? Responsibility is for boring people who don’t take risks… okay, that’s not entirely true, but part of it is.

Lastly, I want a front loading washer and dryer and a tankless hot water heater. I need them so I can remodel my breakfast area and make it look bigger and more useable. So I’m getting stuff done now while I can and I’m not putting things on hold, life is just too short for that.

The Other Half is Actually a Third

“You know the problem… I’m going to tell you the problem…” insert sigh here from my new friend who I only partied with once before, “It’s just that all of our friends have kids and we just aren’t there yet, you know?”

I was sort of taken aback at this point. Imagine me in a kitchen, single me who is looking at this gorgeous girl who has the most perfect husband, (seriously, he is almost as cool as wolverine) and she is wiping down a countertop with her petite hand and she is lamenting the fact that her friends are pressuring her to have kids.

I looked in my red glass and wondered if someone had slipped me a mickey or a double shot of rohipnol. For some reason I thought there were only two worlds that humans live in, Single and Married. Yes, I know there is a divorced category but that don’t count because they did, at one time, fall into one of these two categories. However, there is a third category that seems to be almost as cruel as the single category and that is the “Married with Children” category.

Single people aren’t complete at all.

Married people are only partially complete.

Married with Children equals completedness.

I have to admit though, I felt a little bit better knowing that even after your married you still deal with peer pressure on some level. It made me not feel so alone in my singleness, like really, it doesn’t matter what stage you are at in life, you are always going to feel pressure from society to be better or more than what you currently are. I mean give it a rest already, just let people be.

Wolverine Hugh Jackman

It started as a kid… I was a huge fan of Wolverine and of course Flash and the Incredible Hulk, but everyone’s favorite had to be Wolverine.Wolverine was the rebel, the bad ass, the first one that always wanted to launch in and attack instead of thinking things through. Who doesn’t love a rebel?

After seeing Australia and of course the latest X-Men installment: Wolverine, I have to say that the movie with Beyonce and Ali Larter – Obsessed, is loosely based on me stalking Hugh Jackman/Wolverine. Seriously.

I wasn’t a huge fan from his first X-Men appearances, I mean, he was cool and all, but his weird hair and chops made him seem more cheesey than cool. Then I saw Jackman on the Oscars and he can be funny and laugh at himself and there is nothing cooler than a man’s man who can dance and sing. At least not for me. I think we often forget that the real man’s man can do it all. Dance, Sing, Fight, Protect, Love, Laugh, Cry… wait, I’m describing myself now.

Then here is Mr. Jackman with Beyonce:

I really enjoyed the movie and I enjoyed seeing Jackman on Oprah, I only wish he would shut up sometimes and let her guests talk. And what is with that whole “The View”- like panel? Jenny McCarthy? That Designer dude and her best friend Gail? When did that start?
